AgingSteady exists for one specific reader: an adult child trying to figure out, usually at 11pm after a worrying phone call, what to actually buy or do to keep an aging parent safe at home.

We don't run a hospital, a home care agency, or a medical practice. What we do is research products — medical alert systems, mobility aids, bathroom safety equipment — and compare them against real situations instead of generic "top 10" rankings.

Who writes AgingSteady

Guides are written and maintained by the AgingSteady Editorial Team. We're not doctors, nurses, or occupational therapists, and we say so on purpose — where a question is genuinely medical, the right answer is "ask your parent's doctor," not a guess from us, and you'll see that referral pattern throughout the site.

What we do bring: hours spent reading manufacturer spec sheets and warranty terms side by side, cross-checking coverage claims against Medicare.gov and VA guidance, and comparing return-and-complaint patterns across products in the same category. We don't claim to have physically installed or stress-tested every product listed — where that matters (like grab bar weight ratings), we say exactly what we did and didn't verify ourselves, instead of implying hands-on testing we didn't do.

Every guide is revisited periodically as prices, coverage rules, or product lineups change — that's the "Updated" date at the top of each one.

How we choose what to recommend

Every guide sorts products by the situation they fit, not just price or star rating. We weigh coverage type, ease of use for someone with reduced grip strength or vision, contract flexibility, and whether a product solves the specific problem a reader searched for.

How we make money

Some links on this site are affiliate links, meaning we earn a commission if you purchase through them, at no extra cost to you. It never changes which product we put first — see our full affiliate disclosure for details.

What this site isn't

Nothing here is medical advice. For anything involving your parent's specific health condition, medications, or care plan, that conversation belongs with their doctor.
